Cette installation se veut à l’image d’un espace intergalactique d’où surgissent des réminiscences d’un monde présent et passé sous forme d’apparitions photographiques et de halos de lumière qui rebondissent sur trois modules demi-sphériques, sorte de planètes spéculaires, réceptacles et repoussoirs du monde.
350 photos se trouvent ainsi projetées sur les trois modules (structures de métal recouvertes de nylon blanc) alternativement.
Un dispositif lumineux installé au plafond projette aussi, de façon alternative et dans un mouvement rotatif, des halos de lumières de couleurs différentes au sol parmi les trois modules.
Claire Piché, ambiophoniste en a constitué « Le paysage sonore » à partir d’enregistrement pris au bord de la rivière Windigo.
« Christine Palmieri’s multi-disciplinary work, titled ” Neant Compulsif 2 ” enacts a pushing back of the world -as-commodifier in order for her dream to maintain it’s distance within the context of her own personal history. Two igloo shaped structures placed onto the floor house her past and future. Projected on these nylon-covered structures is a pastiche of images depicting souvenirs of herself (a superimposed self-portrait), her family, and other subjects, such as fields of flowers. From above, spotlights shine down in the primary colors striking the ground as if excavating the past with pulse-like regularity. This suggests the potential for colour opening the doors to the primordial realms. A recording of a gently flowing river plays on, creating a sensual convergence of light, sound, image and transcendance. The artistís intergalactic site is a simultaneous search for past and future equipped with a radical sense of experimentation. Her dream is enough to launch herself accordingly, and like Kubrick in A Space Odyssey 2001, Palmieri seeks the seeds of the dream by going to the depths of the symbolic traces of original thought. » Extrait de The Dream State/The State of the Dream (Vie des Arts, 2000) Isak Augustine
